Gender studies in the social sciences
From 2021 to 2025, the Department of Social Sciences will offer a specialisation in gender studies at the bachelor's level. The courses are open to all WISO students.
Gender inequalities remain pronounced in many areas of society, but at the same time are changing in many places. The gender-specific division of labour, wage inequalities and the political representation of women are just three examples of debates that continue to occupy politicians and the public. What explanations are there for these inequalities? Why is gender relevant at all? And aren't there many more than just two genders? What about other forms of discrimination? These and other topics will be addressed and discussed from an interdisciplinary perspective as part of the Gender Studies focus at the Department of Social Sciences.
Participants who successfully complete at least three courses from the list below at the end of their BA programme will receive a certificate of participation (please contact Prof. Dr. Isabelle Stadelmann).
For information on the creditability of the course, please refer to the study plans and, if in doubt, contact the academic advisory service.
